Greek Mati Eye Of David Pendant.
[077P]

A star of David with a light blue handmade glass evil eye (Mati) encased in 925 silver casing. Star of David: Its shape is that of a hexagram, the compound of two equilateral triangles. One triangle represents the ruling tribe of Judah and the other the former ruling tribe of Benjamin. It is also seen as a dalet and yud, the two letters assigned to Judah. There are 12 Vav, or "men," representing the 12 tribes or patriarchs of Israel. The hexagram has been in use as a symbol of Judaism since the 17th century, with precedents in the 14th to 16th centuries in Central Europe, where the Shield of David was partly used in conjunction with the Seal of Solomon (the hexagram) on Jewish flags. Its use probably derives from medieval (11th to 13th century) Jewish protective amulets (segulot). : Approximate size specification - Pendant length: 23mm - Bead width: 9mm Height: 3mm - Weight: 50g.
